Before the recent advancements in technology, a blade was used to make the LASIK flap on the eye, but now, a laser beam is used to create the flap. Using a laser allows the surgeon to create a custom LASIK flap based on your eye’s unique shape and structure. The laser is virtually painless, and the flap process only takes about 25 seconds.
